ABOUT US The National Council for Adult Learning (NCAL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by Gail Spangenberg, Past President and Founder of the Council for Advancement of Adult Literacy (CAAL). When CAAL vacated its McGraw-Hill in-kind space in late 2014, we took the occasion to consider future programming, logistics of operation, and board make-up. Early in 2015, we were re-activated with our new name, a similar but broader mission, and a new board of directors. NCAL operates on a project-by-project basis as funding is secured and publishes an ongoing e-newsletter, News & Views. We maintain a small core staff and work with consultants retained as appropriate for high priority projects carried out to advance Adult Education. The work of the National Council for Adult Learning aims to benefit all adults and families needing to improve their basic literacy, ESL, and workforce skills - without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual or political preference, immigrant status, country of origin, or religion.
